Pressly doesn't collect anything about you, and it can't send anything anywhere. It compresses photos on your phone. That's the whole story — the rest of this page just explains how we can say that so confidently.

Why “we don't send anything” isn't just a promise

An Android app has to ask permission to use the internet, and the system enforces it. Pressly doesn't ask for that permission, so Android will not let it open a connection — even if the app tried to.

You don't have to take our word for it. Open Settings → Apps → Pressly on your phone and look at what it's allowed to do. There's no network access in the list.

There's no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising library, and no “anonymous usage statistics”. There's no account to create and no server for one to live on.

Your photos

When you tap to add photos, Android's own picker opens. You choose specific pictures, and Pressly is handed those and nothing else. It has no permission to browse the rest of your gallery.

Your originals are opened read-only. Pressly cannot modify or delete them.
Compressed copies are saved as new files in a separate Pictures/Pressly album.
Until you tap Save, results stay in Pressly's private working area. Start a new batch instead and they're deleted.

Location and camera details inside photos

Photos usually carry hidden details: the camera used, the settings, the date, and often the exact GPS coordinates of where you were standing. People are frequently surprised by that last one.

Pressly removes this by default when it saves a compressed copy. You can turn it back on in Settings, and you can tap a photo's details to see exactly what it's carrying before you decide.

What Pressly keeps on your phone

All of this is stored locally, in the app's own private storage. None of it is transmitted.

You can erase all of it at any time with Delete my data in Settings, and uninstalling the app removes it completely. Your photos in the gallery aren't affected either way.

Permissions, in plain English

! NotificationsTo show progress while a batch runs and tell you when it's done. Decline it and compression still works — you just won't see the progress notification.
▶ Running in the backgroundSo a batch of thirty photos keeps going when you switch apps or lock your phone, instead of being cut off partway.
▤ Storage (Android 9 and older only)Older versions of Android need this to write into your gallery. It's requested the first time you save, and not at all on Android 10 or newer.
$ BillingDeclared so a future one-time purchase can be added without a fresh install. Pressly has no paid features today and this permission does nothing until then — you will never be charged without choosing to be.

Children

Pressly is a general-purpose utility with no accounts, no messaging, and no data collection, so there is nothing for us to gather from anyone — including children.

Changes to this policy

If this ever changes, the date at the top changes with it. Should a future version of Pressly ever need to send something somewhere, that would be described here clearly and in advance — not buried in an update.
